Wow, what a very interesting video/documentay on today's world of advertising and marketing here in America. Many aspects that stood out for me were the absolut hunk, the language studying of advertising and the gueirlla marketing of adidas. I thought it was very interesting how advertisers are doing so much more today, even inventing such as a drink on a popualr television show. Not only was that clever and smart, it was also a great, almost sort of groundbreaking tactic. I'm sure it has occured in the past a few times but this is the first time I've had it really shown to me in detail. They discussed how women are kind of pushed aside in advertising alot and by doing something like this on the most popular women's television show was just genuis to me. As an aspising advertiser, I definatley had some instant ideas begin to swirl around in my mind.
Just like anything else in this world, advertising is evolving too. The saturn idea of having like a family convention sort of thing was also a great idea. Making your product more about the people purchasing it then about themselves and the product itself ensure a more personal level with your consumer. This kind of thing is completley necessary for advertisers to do now because of the "clutter" and constant adervertising from thousands of different products and brands everywhere. Sometimes advertisers can go a little to far, but for the most part I feeling the new, up and coming techniques are very effective and interesting and I will definatley have my eyes out and be more alert for new ones to pop up in the near future.

RAW Exhibits
The first exhibit I saw had a group running about campus with RAW t-shirts on handing out fliers in an aggressive manner. This was effective because the best way to get the word out about what you are trying to get across is to physically act upon it, and handing out fliers is definatley a way to go about to something of that sort.
The second exhibit I saw consisted of a group setting up a simulated beer pong game with a beer bong and acting loud and obnoxious in front of Lawson hall, which always has a lot of students by it. This was effective, and my personal favorite, because it caught the attention of a lot of students and was also enjoyable to watch.

Assignment #3
As I scanned my bedroom looking for a recent item of interest that I purchased. I landed on my Christmas gift that I had just gotten for my self; A very white and stylish pair of Michael Jordan basketball shoes. The brand, obviously, is Jordan apparel. Five things that come into mind immediately when thinking about this particular brand would be basketball, Nike, greatness, Chicago and prestige. Michale Jordan, himself, shaped my perception of this brand quite simply being that he was basically my idol growing up as a basketball fan in the Chicago-land area. The top ten things others are saying about Jordan on brandtags.net were, in order, Jordan, Nike, basketball, Michael Jordan, air, Air Jordan, N.B.A., jump, M.J., sport. My perception is pretty much in line with what others have said probably being because Jordan has been around and has such a strict lable on it.

JRNL 301-HW assignment #2
What makes this my favorite ad and catches my attention the most is the fact that it is, to me, extremely hilarious. There is a little vulgarity and a few edgy references in it too which lours me in a little more as well. As funny and likable as this ad is it definitely does not make me want to go into business with them. The main reason probably being that I think it may be fake and that they did not present themselves to being very professional. In a way this is an effective ad and in a way it isn't. It's a very friendly and humorous ad but at the same time seemed some what juvenile and not very reliable.

Goals for the semester
I guess my main goal for this semester involving JRNL 301 would be to gain sufficient knowledge and understanding of the basics concerning advertising in the work place today. Also to understand the differences between the different types of advertising. Most importantly though I want to have a fun in the class.
